Rick Solano, Chief Executive Officer
Rick Solano joined Mirixa in March of 2008 and is responsible for the overall management of Mirixa and developing the company's strategic business relationships. Rick has worked in healthcare for 22 years, providing software, services and solutions to providers, health plans and pharmaceutical manufacturers. He most recently served in executive positions at Emdeon and Cegedim-Dendrite, providing business leadership for new business ventures as well as mature large-scale organizations. As Senior Vice President of Operations at Emdeon, Rick participated in several business acquisition and integration efforts, and was responsible for product strategy, development and delivery for Emdeon's Business Services Division. He began his career at SMS prior to their acquisition by Siemens. Rick received his undergraduate degree from the University of California and a MBA from California Lutheran University. He serves on the Board of Directors of Health 1st America's Charities.
Eric Zimmerman, Chief Innovation Officer
Eric Zimmerman joined Mirixa in June 2007. Eric brings over 18 years of experience designing, marketing and deploying information technologies that empower consumers and enable healthcare collaboration. He previously served as senior vice president, Marketing at RelayHealth where he led product strategy and introduced a major healthcare connectivity brand to the market. Prior to that Eric led consumer product marketing at MedicaLogic/Medscape, launched the online/interactive products group at StayWell, and served as a founding employee of Johnson & Johnson's health management business unit where he developed interactive employee health technologies used at Fortune 100 companies nationwide.
Bud Meadows, Senior Vice President, Sales & Business Development
Bud Meadows joined Mirixa in August 2008 and is responsible for sales and business development at Mirixa. Bud brings over 13 years of sales leadership experience within the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Mirixa, he served as Vice President of Sales for Strategic Markets at Sage Software Healthcare. During this time, Bud developed the Channel Partner Program for the healthcare division and oversaw the clinical and administrative transactions sales. He previously held leadership roles with WebMD/Emdeon, prior to the acquisition of Emdeon's software division by Sage Software. Bud is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, Williams School of Commerce with a degree in Politics.
Patricia N. Edfors, CISSP, CISM, CISA - Chief Privacy and Security Officer
Patricia Edfors joined Mirixa in June 2007 as chief privacy and security officer, responsible for the Privacy and Information Security affairs for Mirixa's growing pharmacist-delivered technology services business and leads privacy and security related activities for the organization. Patricia has over 20 years of experience in security and information technology risk management. Most recently she was vice president of IT risk management for America Online, LLC where she served as the senior executive responsible for enterprise information technology security, business continuity, IT compliance programs, and electronic preservation and discovery matters. Patricia brings over ten years of experience working with the U.S. government on technology and privacy matters, and served as the advocate and primary spokesperson for all Federal IT security initiatives. Her government experience spans the Departments of the Treasury, the Department of Justice, the Department of Commerce, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Patricia served previously as President of PNE Associates and as Director of Government and Mid-Atlantic Operations for Baltimore Technologies, Inc. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Section of Science and Technology Law, Information Security Committee and has served as a faculty member, International Cryptographic Institute. Patricia was a co-author and contributor to the "PKI Assessment Guidelines" published by the American Bar Association, which contributed to the widespread adoption of electronic signatures and cryptographic protections using public key technologies. Patricia did her undergraduate studies at George Mason University.
Karen Litsinger, General Counsel
Karen Litsinger joined Mirixa Corporation in February 2008. Karen brings to the Mirixa management team fifteen years of experience assisting companies in the technology arena. Immediately prior to joining Mirixa, she served as a partner in the Corporate and Internet, Communications and Data Protection (ICDP) practice groups at Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal LLP. Before joining Sonnenschein, Karen participated in the tremendous growth of America Online, Inc., where she served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel . Karen began her career as an associate at Arent Fox handling real estate and corporate matters. She earned her bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Duke University and her J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center. Karen serves on the Board of Directors of Ayuda, Inc., a nonprofit legal services organization, and on the Board of Directors of the Holton-Arms Alumnae Association.
William Hein, Senior Vice President, Health Plan Services
Bill Hein joined Mirixa in November 2007. He is responsible for leading the business development and execution of Mirixa's portfolio of medication care management solutions for insurers, managed care organizations, employers and related support organizations. Prior to joining Mirixa, Bill played a key role in the development and growth of a variety of technology and healthcare companies. Among them, he was vice president, health plan account services for AdvancePCS - a Fortune 500 health services and pharmacy benefits management company that was acquired by Caremark in 2004. He previously was senior vice president, sales and marketing for IMS Kinetra, where he also served as president of two divisions and board member of several hospital system and health plan joint ventures. Kinetra (which ultimately was acquired by WebMD) was a physician, health plan, and hospital-focused healthcare communications and information technology firm driven to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare. Bill received his bachelor's degree in engineering and pursued post graduate studies in business at the University of Arizona.
Gary Steier, Senior Vice President, Pharmaceutical Services
Gary Steier joined Mirixa in March 2007 as senior vice president, pharmaceutical services. He is responsible for building relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and spearheading efforts to define and launch pharmacy-based patient education, clinical trial recruitment, and post-market surveillance programs. Prior to joining Mirixa, Gary served as vice president of PDI, Inc., a diversified sales and marketing services provider to the biopharmaceutical industry, where he led several pharmaceutical clients through a period of significant growth in revenue and profit. Previously, Gary was a key principal in ProtoCall, Inc. a start-up venture that was eventually acquired by PDI. Gary brings over 26 years of sales and leadership spanning multiple industries with most recent experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He has a bachelor's degree in computer science and business from Vanderbilt University.
Karen E. Hartwig, Vice President, Market Solutions & Marketing
Karen Hartwig joined Mirixa in October 2007 and is responsible for the design, development and delivery of Mirixa's solutions for health plan, pharmaceutical and CRO clients, as well as for the company's Marketing function. Karen brings over 14 years of experience in launching products and building businesses in the health care industry. She previously served as Senior Vice President, Marketing & Corporate Communications at Clinical Care Options, a web-based medical information company. Prior to that, Karen was Vice President of Marketing at Novacea, Inc. and was Vice President of Marketing at ViroLogic, Inc. (now Monogram Biosciences), playing a pivotal role in the commercialization and development of ViroLogic's product portfolio. She helped establish the BioOncology division at Genentech and was responsible for various marketing programs, most notably, the 1998 launch and subsequent commercialization of Herceptin (trastuzumab). Prior to joining Genentech, she was an investment banker at Smith Barney in New York. Karen holds a master's degree in business administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, and a bachelor's degree in government from Dartmouth College.
Ed Staffa, RPh, Vice President, Pharmacy
Ed Staffa joined Mirixa Corporation in February 2006 as vice president of pharmacy. Ed is responsible for the development of protocols for the delivery of cognitive services by the Mirixa pharmacy network. Prior to joining the company, Ed served as vice president, pharmacy practice and communications with the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS). He started his pharmacy career by serving for 16 years as a practicing community pharmacist in a wide variety of settings in the Washington, DC area. Ed has a degree from the University of Rhode Island School of Pharmacy.
